New Trend: Scratch-N-Sniff Jeans for the Fellas

If you are a regular "Curlitalk" reader, you already know I like to blog about fashions that may be a little out of the ordinary! Well, check this out! Fellas, now you can purchase your very own pair of Scratch-n-Sniff Jeans!

 These raspberry scented jeans are available at TATE+YOKO, a Canadian menswear boutique which carries some of the best cult Japanese denim brands. Made by the brand, Naked & Famous, the unique 100% cotton candy-scented jeans, called Naked & Famous Weird Guy Scratch-n-Sniff Raspberry Scented Jeans, sell for $150 a pair and are available in dark indigo. Each pair is coated with mini microcapsules that release their scent when scratched. How cool! But, there is a drawback! Depending on your wear and care, the scent only lasts up to 5 washes!

M.A.M. Records' "Music Icons of Black History Month Contest"!

To help our children learn about and celebrate Black history, Baltimore's own, Motivated Artist Making Records (M.A.M. Records) is sponsoring  the "Music Icons of Black History Month Contest"!Students from 4th-12th grade are invited to participate for a pack of cool prizes! Participants must write a 1 page essay on an African-American musical icon explaining why they feel this person is important to Black History. Enjoy a great evening while helping an uninsured cancer patient! Here's how!

On Friday, February 24, 2012, the Dream Works Cancer Foundation will present its inaugural "Love Award Gala" Awards Dinner at Andrews Air Force Base from 7:30pm-11:30pm! This is a charity fundraising event in which the proceeds will help fund uninsured cancer patients! Your Love donation is $50 per person. Cocktail attire is required, so dress up in your finest and come out and enjoy dinner, live jazz, and entertainment with your host for the evening, KomPlex! Tickets must be purchased in advance!

TRUKFIT: Lil Wayne's New Clothing Line

On Thursday, January 12, 2012, at the Hotel Americano in Manhattan, rapper, Lil' Wayne celebrated the launch of his brand new clothing line, TRUKFIT! Why am I not surprised! Wayne has become known for his eclectic, to say the least, ensembles that have definitely made him a fashion icon and trendsetter! TRUKFIT is said to reflect Wayne's tastes in music, sports, technology and culture and is a product of what the Wayne represents: pop, country, rock, skate, and street!

As a part of his mini promotional tour, Wayne has been attending trade shows with stylist, Marissa Torres and the "executor" of Wayne's vision, his manager, Cortez Bryant. Bryant, according to reports, has expressed high hopes for the creative, modern and youthful line, that includes graphic tees, hats, raglans, camouflage cargo shorts, and those funky Beats by Dr. Dre

The word is that TRUKFIT will officially launch on January 25th and will be available, at first, only from select online vendors. The urban online retailer, Karmaloop.com 

has the priviledge of being the first!

Jacket Wars! On Purpose or Just a Coincidence?

If you didn't know already, Drake is a fashion designer, and so is Jim Jones! The problem is they are both selling similar very hot bomber jackets!

Drake's OVO x Canada Goose Chilliwack jacket (shown above), which sells for $4000, has a buffalo leather exterior, silk lined interior (printed with the OVO owl motif), a snorkel hood with a removable fox fur trim and 24-karat gold plated hardware. Wow! The jacket became available for purchase on December 28, 2011 in Tokyo, Osaka, in Drake's hometown, and of course, New York.

Jones's black leather bomber jacket (shown above), made from less expensive materials, sells for $175 and to me does look a lot like Drake's jacket in every

detail except for the hood.

You know this has got some people wondering if this was actually done on purpose to boost ratings on Jone's reality show, "Love and Hip Hop" or just a coincidence! What do you think?
