Peplum tops are definitely what's happening right now for fall 2013!
Returning to the fashion scene and becoming one of the hottest trends of spring/summer 2012, peplum seems to be even more popular now after dominating the runways for two seasons! Fashionistas, young and old of all shapes and sizes, are rocking today's modern peplum tops in styles suitable for every occasion, but where did this trend come from? Peplum, it turns out, actually has a very, very long fashion history. The word "peplum" is derived from the Greek word "peplos" meaning tunic, and is a flared ruffle that is attached to the waist of a blouse, dress, or jacket. It was first seen worn in ancient Greece by men and women. Peplum didn't appear again until the 1930's in women's suits. It appeared again in the 1980's, but had been stored away in the back of the world's fashion vaults and some people's closets until its reappearance in 2012. Now, here are some images of how ladies are rocking this dope trend for the fall 2013 season into winter! Check them out! You will be able to find tops like these online and in retail stores everywhere! I just bought my first one a week ago and I love it! Make sure you notice that streamlined bottoms, like pencil skirts, skinny jeans, leather leggings, and tapered pants, work best with this look! Now, get to rocking those peplum tops, ladies!!! You're going to look sooooo cute!
